'II was in many respects a much more overtly stoner record than III. That being said, III is more subtle and developing of its diamond-in-the-rough stoner revelations. Starting life as a jam between drummer Roger Dodge Watson and guitarist Mark Buteux, this record is centred on a rock & roll rhythm trip. As such, youre slightly harder pressed for those emphatically prolonged stoner jaunts of old. Interesting experimental/ post-metal from Slovenia, this one was sent to my by Janus. Their sound could be placed somewhere between Neurosis & early Isis. Violent sludge riffs, pounding drums, atmospheric interludes,..

'Voyager is a sophomore album by the Slovenian post-metal doomsters Elodea, who have been around since the late nineties and still maintain their mysterious presence by peering out publicly only on rare occasions. After four years of waiting, they present us with their own vision of voyage in the quest of beauty, where light ceases to exist. In a way, it's a timeless anger-fuelled voyage through the super massive black hole they perfectly managed to capture in 5 songs unfolding to nearly an hour. The record features a guest appearance by Rennie Resmini of the highly respected and influential group Starkweather. '

Dark Tooth Encounter - Soft Monsters (2008)

'The latest project from guitarist Gary Arce (Yawning Man/ Ten East) and the resulting soundscape is more experimental and dark this time around. From one central source, Arce creates a song by layering the guitar, keyboards and bass to set the vibe and along the way drummer Bill Stinson adds support with tribal drum patterns and heavy rock backbeats.
Sound engineer Mike Shear tweaks the sound and using creative sampling and sound manipulation creates an overall raw and ambient trance sound that is Dark Tooth Encounter.
Mario Lalli will play guitar on two tracks of the final recording.'
